Apologies…my regrettable Summer laziness.

To everyone out there that reads my little blog (however small that group may be), my great apologies for my lack of writing to you this Summer. Although I haven’t been writing, it doesn’t mean this Summer hasn’t been such an amazing one so far. My latest post here was a post from Flickr of the photos from our visit to the D-Day Memorial on this year’s 66th anniversary of D-Day. It was a humbling day, and I was so honored to have the chance to meet veterans, young service members, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen.

Something I’ve been meaning to share is the weekend I spent in Washington, D.C. from June 25th to June 29th. It was by far one of the greatest weekend’s I’ve ever had. While I still plan to write about the trip, right now I’ll just share all the photos we took on the trip to tell the story.

DC Trip (Day 1: Departure, DC, Kabul Kabob, DC @ night)

DC Trip (Day 2: Lunch w/ Nancy Trejos, visit w/ Doni’s family)

DC Trip (Day 3: Arlington Nat’l Cemetery, “Restrepo” , Nat’l Mall @ night)

    Dear Cary,
I saw the photographs you had posted on your blog. The pictures are fantastic and the pictures, I feel, have captured some of the opulence of the palace.

    Loving Mithu

Hi Cary! Your small group just got a little bit bigger.
I found your blog through your twitter feed, which I found through Richard Engel’s twitter feed, which I found thanks to the Rachel Maddow show (!) and am really enjoying reading your posts. I am, too, a student dreaming about becoming a journalist (or working at an NGO…one day it’s journalism, the other day it’s NGO’s…I get confused myself ;-) ). I’m currently studying at the University of Zurich, majoring in Middle East Studies and hoping to move down there next year.
Anyway…really great job with your blog and the best of luck from a fellow news junkie!

p.s.: I saw your twitpic from the today show in February and remember thinking to myself: “Hey! I’m not the only one who’s that news crazy that she needs both the tv and the computer on in the morning for the news!” ;-)

      Hey, Stephanie!

Thank you for the comment and compliments! You would not believe how many people I have met through Richard Engel (it’s not even funny)! :) Really great that you’re thinking of becoming a journalist or working for an NGO! That’s wonderful.

P.S. Crazy that you remembered my Today Show photo mention! That made my winter! Give me a tweet sometime so I know where to contact you!
